As a dedicated public sector communicator, you have to think smart, work hard, and create digital campaigns that capture public attention, embed understanding, and inspire action. And for that, we think you deserve recognition.
Designed to honour effective and innovative use of digital communications, the Digital Strategy Awards recognise excellence in promoting services, improving public awareness, and increasing citizen involvement in programmes.

You may enter the same project/campaign into multiple award categories, and you do not have to be a Granicus client to enter.

The deadline for entries is Sunday 19 August and winners will be announced at the Granicus Digital Engagement Summit in London on 20 September.

2018 Digital Achievement Award


Granicus’ highest honour of excellence for organisations leading the way in public sector digital communications, engagement, and service design. For organisations delivering “internal” and/or “external” outcomes with effective and integrated use of digital tools and tactics. For example, internal outcomes could be cost savings or income for your organisation; external outcomes could be reduced crime rates or more lives impacted positively.

Open to external or employee engagement campaigns, projects and services.

Things to highlight in your nomination:

  • Your objective/s, digital strategy, tactics, results, measurement and evaluation
  • New or improved digital communications and/or services helping to drive specific outcomes

Creative Campaign of the Year


For the organisation taking a creative approach to engaging the public, businesses, staff, patients and other target audiences using digital communications. This award recognises creativity and being bold in public sector communications to achieve results.

Things to highlight in your nomination:

  • Your campaign plan (including SMART objective/s, strategy, tactics, results, measurement and evaluation details)
  • Examples of your campaign’s creative elements (including messaging and collateral)
  • Specific metrics and campaign outcomes

You may attach up to three resources to support your submission. Video submissions welcome too.

Communicator of the Year (Individual)


For the individual communicator making a remarkable difference to the way their organisation interacts and communicates with the public, businesses, patients, staff, and other target audiences. This award recognises leadership, vision, creativity and dedication to public sector communication missions.

Things to highlight in your nomination:

  • Dedication to customer-centric communications
  • Leadership, creativity and enthusiasm in role
  • Commitment to digital engagement and continual improvement
  • Results demonstrating growth and improvement of communications

You may attach up to three resources to support your submission. Video submissions are welcome too. You may nominate yourself or someone you know.

Transformed Access to Services


For the organisation transforming customers’ access to services and programmes. This award recognises a commitment to improving the “citizen experience” by providing easy access to public services, programmes and opportunities using digital technologies and engagement tactics.

Things to highlight in your nomination:

  • New or improved digital capabilities/services that make it easier for people to access services and programmes
  • Examples of successful digital promotion of service to increase adoption or programme participation
  • Specific metrics and outcomes of new or improved digital engagement project/campaign/service

Enhanced Public Awareness


For the organisation successfully reaching and engaging target audiences using digital communications. This award recognises a commitment to driving greater awareness and understanding of public services, programmes and opportunities, and an ability to inspire action and public participation when needed

Things to highlight in your nomination:

  • Examples of digital communications driving awareness, understanding and action (if required)
  • Specific metrics and outcomes of new or improved public awareness campaign/project (for example an increase in public participation or specific behavioural changes)

You may attach up to three resources to support your submission. Video submissions are welcome too.


The fine print:

Please ensure that your entry has been signed off by the Director / Head of Communications for your organisation. By entering, you are happy for the information to be shared publicly to promote excellence and best practice in public sector communications. Additionally, winners agree to share their successes with other communicators in partnership with Granicus. This may take the form of participating in a live event, speaking on a webinar, or cooperating for a video or written success story – to be agreed between you and Granicus. These awards are open to any individual or organisation in or working with the public sector. You do not have to be a Granicus customer to enter.
